Teacher Salary Sponsorship Program

Purpose:  The purpose is to provide monthly salaries to teachers in schools affiliated with Harvest Christian Church (HCC).

Salary:  The monthly salary that HCC will pay is $70/month ($840/year).  We are asking individuals, small groups, or churches to pledge $75/month for one year.  (The pledge is renewable annually.)  The extra $5/month will help with money transfer fees.

Rwandan Education:  Within the Rwandan educational system, there are three levels of schooling.  Nursery school (comparable to preschool) consists of three levels (Baby Class, Middle Class, and Top Class).  Primary school (comparable to elementary school) consists of six levels (P1-P6).  Secondary school (comparable to middle and high school) consists of six levels (S1-S6).  Churches have differing levels that they offer, depending on available facilities.

About HCC:  Harvest Christian Church is a network of 81 churches in Rwanda and surrounding countries (73 in Rwanda, 6 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and 2 in Uganda).  The schooling focuses on typical subjects but also has Christ-centered education, with weekly Bible-based sessions led by the pastors of the churches.

Locations/Schools:  Currently, we are being asked to assist with salaries at three schools: Mbyo, Bwiru, and Gisenyi, all in Rwanda.
